“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink.” - Matthew 25:35
The Christian Service Commission launched the St. Ignatius Food Pantry during the Year of Mercy, on Sunday, December 18th, 2016. This service to the needy is one of the corporal works of mercy. The primary purpose is to assist less fortunate families and individuals in the Parish and wider Cayman community with regular supplies of non-perishable food items and toiletries.
We are encouraging ALL parishioners to be part of this great mercy initiative by donating food and other items so that the Food Pantry can be fully stocked. A list of items needed can be found in the Parish Bulletin each week. Donations can be dropped off at the Church after Masses or the Church Office on weekdays. Please ensure items are non-perishable and have plenty of time left on the sell by date. Plastic and/or reusable shopping bags are always appreciated. If you prefer to donate cash or gift cards, our volunteers will be happy to purchase items needed.
We are also requesting that if you are aware of any persons in our Parish community, as well as those throughout Cayman who are in need of help, please direct them to avail this facility by contacting the Parish Office or one of the Christian Service Commission Members. Please note that eligible persons from the wider community must provide an official referral letter from the Needs Assessment Unit or Department of Children and Family Services.
Thank you to all those who have donated items, gift cards or cash over the past five years! This Ministry has helped hundreds of families and individuals in the Cayman community!
Together, as a community, let us continue making a difference in the lives of others!
